First is the fantastic news that our long standing member and bowler Emma Bolton is running in the Paris Marathon next Sunday April 2nd. She is running to raise money for the Heartbeat charity.
As she explains in her own words on the Heartbeat website:
“ On Sunday 2nd April 2023 I am going to run the Paris Marathon. My Dad and a family friend, are my support crew and are joining me on the trip.
The event is not just going to mark my retirement from the Police, but an opportunity to raise some money for a worthy cause - Heartbeat.
My Dad has been supported by the Preston Heartbeat Team over the past few years. He has enjoyed attending the gym sessions that they provide, on a weekly basis. This has not only offered him a lifeline in maintaining his fitness, but a social outlet. The group now regularly meet for coffee and arrange meals out. ” .
So if you can, it would be great if you could donate something to sponsor Emma and this very good cause.
Secondly our Lancashire Quiz and raffle held last night ( Sat March 25 )was very successful, with a great atmosphere, and everyone who attended enjoyed the evening. We also raised £24 for the local St Catherines Hospice. So thank you to everyone who came.
And last , but not least, on Good Friday April 7th we will be holding the first official bowl of the season. There will be hot cross buns, plus food and refreshments provided by a Jacobs Join. The bar of course will be open, and Steve Bucknall has offered to do a quiz. So here’s to a good turn out and I look forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes,
Chris
